John Henry and Sarah Simmons Henderson
John Henry
Henderson, son of James Henderson, was born in December, 1860.
During his childhood, he lived in Duplin and Sampson Counties.
On December 21, 1886, he married Sarah Simmons, daughter of
Bryant and Elizabeth Winn Simmons. (Sarah's mother was a sister
of Ed and Frank Winn).
They raised
their family in the Dudley, N.C. area. Sarah Winn Henderson
bore at least nine children, but only three lived to adulthood.
Son Charlie (1891) moved to Richmond, Virginia, and lost touch
with the family.
Daughter
Frances (1895 - 1985), known as "Frankie," married her
cousin Israel H. Winn, which was quite common in that time.


Son Henry
Lee (1901 - 1942) married Christine Lenora "Nora" Aldridge,
daughter of John W., and Louvicey Artis Aldridge. John
Henderson Died.
Henry and
Lenora Henderson owned a farm in Dudley, N.C. They had seven
children including Horace, Onra Lou Vicey, Arum Henry (Jaboe),
Johnnie Delma (Uncle Dink), Frances Evelyn, Kenneth Avon, and
Mona Faye.
Horace married
Katie Lee, daughter of Jasper and Loretta Manley Lee. They had
twelve children: Frederick Vondell, Marian Christine, Horace
Bertrum, Hal Frinco, Effenus, Gary Devon, James Edward,
Larry Donnell, Howard Len, Bonita Loraine, Charlene Marie, and
Monte Marquette.
